How are lab diamonds made?
There are 2 processes: HPHT & CVD. At VALAIS, we only use CVD because of the lower energy usage.
In CVD, a tiny, unique diamond "seed" is placed into specialist equipment surrounded by Carbon-rich gas & subject to extremely high temperatures and pressure. In a couple of weeks, the crystal "seed" grows as carbon atoms bond in a diamond crystal structure
